Ye Olde Nags Head Hotel

Castleton, Derbyshire

Ye Olde Nags Head, a timeless 17th Century Coaching Inn, situated in the beautiful village of Castleton in the Peak District, Derbyshire has just been purchased by two local businessmen. Their core objective is to turn this local wonder into every visitors dream. We want to surpass customer expectations, says the flamboyant Mel Humphreys who is hugely enjoying his front of house position. Mel loves to meet and greet all clientele with his cheerful smile and witty humour!

Within the first week they have made a lasting impression by creating a lovely log burning fire in the main dining area that had been bricked up for over 50 years! Ye Olde Nags Head now enjoys a log-burning fireplace in all 3 reception rooms. To achieve this they have sacrificed seating capacity in favour of customer comfort.

The new owners have very strong views on customer satisfaction and in the coming months will introduce a variety of improvements that will enhance the establishment. Small touches such as a complimentary bottle of wine in all rooms makes a big difference.

They have introduced mulled wine as a winter warmer, and intend to increase their range of real cask ales. The Menu has also been changed to include many traditional country dishes. Giant Yorkshire pudding, liver and onions, bangers & mash, steak & ale pie, and much much more. The Mighty Mixed Grill will challenge the heartiest of eaters!

The Nags Head has 10 en-suite letting rooms including their charming four-poster bedrooms, one with Jacuzzi bathing. Rates are from £50 per room per night midweek. Antique furniture will be introduced to the bedrooms and a schedule of careful refurbishment will commence in the New Year.
